Apprentice Orientation
Day 2 - Getting to know the owners and staff of The Silver Spire Guild
I hope that by now that you are settled into your rooms and learning your way around the guild. Some of you are heading out on a job today - I know that because I’m the one who scheduled you for that. I am Niamh Celeste, Guild coordinator. I’m also the nurse (if you’re injured), the cook (if you’re hungry), the alchemist (if you need a potion), the banker (if you need to stash your gold and valuables in our vault), the landlord (when it’s time for freelancers to pay rent), your armorer (when you need equipment for a job), and the all-around answer person. I was the first staff member hired by the Guild, and it is an honor to be part of this venture.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to the owners of the Silver Spire Guild. As you probably know, it’s unusual for adventurers to own a guild, but that’s how our exceptional owners decided to run this one. We have a co-op ownership with salaries and profit sharing for owners and members alike. I’ll get more into that later. Right now, let me introduce the owners.
This guild and it’s co-op ownership model was the brainchild of Atlene Swiftsword, so named for her signature double attack stroke. Atlene is a warrior and a veteran of many dungeon campaigns. She is the person you’ll thank if you enjoy your training sessions in the sewers of Windgrest. She negotiated that contract with the city. It’s dirty work, but it keeps the Guild solvent and it’s going to help you get ready for more dangerous jobs.
Boenra Nelja (that’s pronounced bo-EN-ra) is our resident wizard. Trained in arithromancy and geomancy, he is currently studying the intricate magics contained within fractals. Don’t be afraid of his snooty attitude. He’s a teddy bear once you get to know him.
Darelle Cloudheart is a halfling with exceptional skills in cooking. She can take one ration and some foraged ingredients, and feed an entire 4-person team. (Just don’t look too closely at those foraged ingredients.) If you’re looking for a scary bed time story, Darelle will be happy to share one with you. And it will be entirely true.
Elowen Dawnbringer is a cleric who can create holy water on the fly. I can’t tell you how many lives that skill has saved! She has a sunny disposition and a kind word for everyone, except the undead of course. If you’re looking for some encouraging words during your busy apprenticeship period, seek out Elowen.
Faelina Sablefoot is a rogue who was singlehandedly responsible for helping all the founders escape the dungeon where they met and nearly perished. If you’re joining us as a rogue, Faelina will be training you on locks, traps, and other deadly dungeon devices. We recently built a rock wall and a pond, so plan on putting some time in on those as well.
Mad Hamish is a barbarian. He’s one of our highest level fighters, so he’ll put you through your paces in the gymnasium and outdoor arena. We’re not sure where he hails from - he keeps talking about a turtle and four elephants flying through space? - but we love him anyway. He’s always good for a laugh. Just watch out. He will steal your rations.
Prasha Centense is a former Phantazari pirate turned cleric. Don’t let his mild manner fool you; in a dungeon, he’s all business. Against the undead, he’ll be your best friend. If you smell something funny, it’s probably Prasha’s incense. He burns it constantly. (You would, too, if you had to room with Hamish!)
Selth Seafoam is another former Phantazari pirate, but now he works as a rogue for out Guild. He has a special gift for sniffing out hidden treasure. Watch and learn! Just don’t try to take any of it for yourself, or you’ll be walking the plank at the end of Selth’s magic dagger.
Finally, we have one additional staff member you’ve probably already met, Elvyn Thorngrit. One of our teams rescued him from a dungeon where he had been enslaved by kobolds for several years after a medusa turned the rest of his team to stone. Elvyn will be the primary person taking you on training expeditions into the Windgrest sewers to forge you into the adventurer you dream of becoming.
There are a lot of exciting things happening around the guild. In the next training posts, you’ll learn about some of our past clients and jobs as well as some of the history of Windgrest and this fascinating world, Darya. And, of course, I’ll continue to bore you will our guild charter and bylaws in small bursts so that you don’t have to make a saving throw against boredom.
As promised, here is the next section of our guild charter.
