Orientation Day 8
This is your final apprentice bulletin. I hope you saved them, because now it’s time to start studying them for the membership process.
Guild History
On 26 Emberwane 87, Elvyn Thorngrit, responding to a rumor picked up by the City Watch, met with Sir Justus Bastion, a Paladin. He was retiring and wished to pass his masterwork magic sword, Asgaratha, on to “the right person.” After a lengthy interview, he sent Elvyn on a quest into the Sea Caves of Qarul alone to defeat Darukan the Vermin Master, an Orrikshan (a rare cross between an orc and a hobgoblin). Elvyn had to defeat 3 boss monsters in addition to Darukan, not to mention legions of his favored vermin, extra-large centipedes. Sir Bastion graciously came to the Guild and made a formal presentation of Asgaratha to Elvyn in our chapel. As Elvyn already had a magic sword, he gifted it to a new apprentice, Viceth Greenspirit, a level 1 Elf.
On 27 Emberwane 87, Darelle Cloudheart, Faelina Sablefoot, and Mad Hamish followed up on the rumor of a dungeon entrance at a sea cave north of town. They investigated the first level only, but brought back some enticing treasure and earned boodles of bounties. We named this previously uncharted dungeon Tek-es-Rokan based on an inscription found inside the first room. The meaning of these words is unknown to anyone we have consulted. Perhaps another trip into Tek-es-Rokan should be undertaken soon to see what is lurking in the lower levels.
On 28 Emberwane 87, Darelle Cloudheart and Faelina Sablefoot caught wind of a rumor that a local butcher was mixing some unknown meat into his sausages. Shoppers complained of the smell in the shop and the taste of the meat. In cooperation with the City Watch, they investigated and caught the owner red-handed accepting a delivery of sewer vermin from a freelance adventurer. His shop has been turned over to his apprentice who was not involved in the scandal. The adventurer (unaffiliated with our guild) was banned from Windgrest under penalty of death.
As you’ve seen through the stories of our first month, adventuring can be everything from discovering the source of foul meat to the excitement of entering an unexplored dungeon or even sudden death. We hope you’ll stay with The Silver Spire as a member, but we want you to consider all possible eventualities before deciding. I am always available to answer your questions or even just to listen as you work through your decision.
